Religion and Politics

Today we are going to mix it up with religion and politics. I know! There are two topics you are not supposed to mix – Religion and Politics. There is a growing tide of sentiment in America that religion has no place in the political realm. That little statement sounds nice if you are a non-religious person, but for us Bible believing folk, we find no way to separate what we believe with how we vote. That is as it should be. That is our freedom. This is America.

Today we are going to talk about entertainment and amusement. Today we have many challenges. Now there is Wii, Nintendo, computer games, The internet, Virtual Reality, Role Playing Games, IPods, rock and roll music, country music, any kind of music you can think of, books on tape, books on computer, Pocket PC’s, and of course, TV and Movies. If you can imagine it, they have invented it, and they have even invented a number of things you couldn’t imagine! So today, we are going to do some right thinking about entertainment.

Today we talk about sloth and the nobility of work. In the world of welfare, food stamps and social programs, it has become quite acceptable to depend on other people to pay your way. We have developed an entire subset of society who are dependent on Uncle Sam for their daily bread. Many welfare families are generational: They don't work, their parents don’t’ work, and neither did their grandparents. Maybe you didn't know it. But the Bible considers sloth a sin.
